Rock Creek Recreation Commission (RCR) is a non-profit organization that receives no taxpayer support. We operate solely on volunteered time. Our yearly budget is funded off concession sales, registrations and donations. Yearly expenses include items such as uniforms, equipment, electricity, water, and maintenance to our ball fields. We are registered with the state of Kansas as a not-for-profit entity.

Our mission is to promote and establish youth activities for any child in the region. Over 500 children registered and played baseball, softball, and t-ball with the RCR in the 2021 season ranging from ages five to fourteen. Our teams compete against similar teams from surrounding areas. More than 1000 families visit our fields each year.

The Rock Creek area (St. George and Westmoreland area) is located as a bedroom town to the larger community of Manhattan, we don’t have a large industrial base to call upon for support. It is a unique situation to be part of a rapidly growing area without any consistent financial funds from either the city or school district. Nearly all “Rec Departments” in the state are funded by their respective cities, schools, or both. We exist solely through registration fees, sponsorship's and donated time.

Recent Updates

In July 2020, we finished a brand new ball field and concession stand at St. George.

In the summer of 2022, we completed another new ball field in St. George! We are working to better the parking situation next.

We are now saving any funds that we can from concession sales, registrations and business donations to work towards future improvements at our baseball/softball fields. These improvements include retaining walls, updates to the concession and bathroom areas, potentially a playground area, and ultimately, more new fields! If you know of anyone with 10+ acres of land that they would be willing to sell to the RCR, either on payments, discounted rate, or willing to donate some of it, PLEASE contact us!

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer or supporter of the RCR, please contact a member of our board (listed on the contact info page of this website) or send us an e-mail at
